Different World, Same TaleFolktales with similar motifs are found throughout the world. This program introduces the art of puppetry and a storytelling performance of a familiar folktale followed by a puppet show based on a cultural variant of that story. Examples are: Little Red Riding Hood (Germany) / Lon Po Po (China), Rumpelstilskin (Europe) / Turtle Knows Your Name (Africa), and Enormous Turnip (Russia) / Billy Goat in the Chili Patch (Mexico). Stories are coordinated with teachers in advance. Performance can be held in a library or a large classroom, but not in gymnasiums or multipurpose rooms. Audience size limited: two classes or 60 students.
